Triangle Chapter, Raleigh, NC

If you are new to the AACA Triangle Chapter or just interested in our activities, here is a short discussion on how the Triangle Chapter works.

The Triangle Chapter is one of 400 Chapters and Regions in Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA.) The National AACA Car Club has over 50,000 members. The National AACA Car Club is organized into Regions and Chapters. To organize AACA events between Chapters and Regions in geographical areas, the Chapters are grouped into Regions. The Triangle Chapter is part of the North Carolina Region which has 14 chapters. The NC Region has its own newsletter and website to report the NC Region events and the activities of all the Chapters in the Region.   The National AACA club organizes national car shows with recognized judging standards to award recognition for automotive vehicles that are properly maintained or restores to rigorous standards. The National AACA publishes the magazine, "Antique Automobile," which brings stories and AACA events to members six times a year. Adding a color format has certainly improved the magazine.

The Triangle Car Club was established in 1961 as a Region of AACA.  In 1964, Triangle Region status was dropped and the Triangle petitioned the North Carolina Region for a chapter charter.  In October 1965 the AACA National approved the Triangle Chapter's charter along with the Foothills Chapter charter.  These two chapters then became the second and third chapters admitted to the NC Region of AACA.  Today the NC Region, with 14 chapters, is the largest in the AACA.  The Triangle Chapter has 89 participating families.

Triangle Chapter members care for many antique vehicles. You can look at the pictures of some of their vehicles and Triangle Chapter events on this site.

The Triangle Chapter holds dinner meetings monthly from January through June. We do not have dinner meetings in July or August. These months are reserved for car shows, tours, family vacations and other special events. Our tradition is to gather for an Ice Cream Social in July, and a Picnic in August. We hold dinner meetings again in September, October, and November. In December we schedule our annual holiday party. You can see the pictures and stories of our events on this site.

The Triangle Chapter holds an annual car show in May each year.  During some years the Triangle Chapter volunteers to host the NC Region Meet. This meet includes AACA National Judging of AACA Vehicles.  Our chapter is known for the great trophies handmade by the members.

The Triangle Chapter demonstrates the Take-A-Part T at all our Chapter public events and others events on request.  The assembly of the Model T takes between five and ten minutes. See the pictures and story of the Take-Apart-T on the menu of this website.
